El Motivo (“The Reason”) is a project that we have embarked on with the aim of offering our guests the chance to get to know a unique environment, nestled in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, with all the comforts and services to promote the rest of our guests and enjoy our facilities and nature.
The El Motivo building has been rehabilitated into rural apartments to maintain this type of traditional construction in the Sierra de Madrid, where it was formerly used as second-residence housing, and which is currently in decline due to the change in family unit that has taken place. has been experiencing in recent times, where the number of children is becoming smaller, which means that this type of building has less and less outlet on the market for not meeting family and economic needs, which is causing the abandonment of large farmhouses in the area.
That is why the reform that we have carried out has wanted to maintain the original flavor of this style of buildings so representative of the Sierra de Guadarrama and specifically of Cercedilla. The building is a construction from the 50s, where the main construction material that its walls are made of is the typical granite stone of the area. The facade is of the Tyrolean type with a finish on the corners of exposed stone millstones. The roof of the building is made of gabled slate depending on the orientation, a very common and suitable material from the mountains. Both the interior and exterior carpentry is made of oak wood and the floor is made of terracotta tiles. Both the walkway leading to the plot and those leading to the building are made of imposing granite stones, already unusual in new construction, due to their difficult execution as well as their economic value. The architectural value of the construction is clearly manifested by the singularity of the stonework that appears in the window lintels, buttresses, balustrades, or the discharge arch of the main door.
